1. Where will the first Podstel be located?

As of August 2016, we are still searching for partners and a location/building for the first Podstel.

We have shortlisted the following locations as places that interest us: Berlin, Budapest, Barcelona, Prague, Porto, Lisbon, Dublin, Edinburgh, London, Vancouver, Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Wellington (English speaking locations would be ideal but not essential).

Please get in touch here if you have any suggestions and ideas for a location/building.

2. When will Podstel open?

We want to open as quickly as possible but it all depends on when we find a building for Podstel.

As soon as we find a building, we anticipate that we’ll be up and running with the first Podstel within a year.

We’ll be taking on volunteers to help with the renovation process, so if you’d like to be added to our volunteer list, please get in touch here.

3. What is the purpose of this website?

The purpose of Podstellife.com is to inform and raise awareness about the Podstel concept in 2 ways:

Inform: To showcase our journey setting up the first Podstel and communicate our ideology and values through blog articles, photos and videos posted in the PodBlog.

Partnerships: To find hostel enthusiasts who share our vision and want to work together to start up the first Podstel. Find out more information about our partnership opportunities here.

4. Who is part of Team Podstel and what are your backgrounds?

We are Daniel Beaumont (25 years old) and Sam Cooper (25 years old) – the Co-Founders of Podstel.

We both grew up in the UK, and have travelled worked in the hospitality and travel industry for the last 6 years.

Collectively we’ve travelled to 40 countries across 4 continents and have worked and volunteered in 6 hostels in 6 different countries.

If you want to find out more, then check out the Podstel about page or contact us here.

5. Are you building from scratch, leasing or buying the property for the first Podstel?

We are not building the first Podstel from scratch and will renovate and decorate an existing property into a Podstel.

6. Will Podstel open elsewhere?

Yes. We plan to create a network of small community based Podstels. We think that franchising will be the most appropriate way to grow the Podstel concept, giving smaller independent hostel owners and people passionate about the Podstel vision the opportunity to take on the brand.

If you are interested in opening your own Podstel, get in touch here.

7. Do you have funding for the first Podstel?

Yes. We have secured €100,000 of private investment for the first Podstel.

We are seeking other hostel enthusiasts who also have investment and want to open their own hostel.

Please get in touch here if you have any ideas.

8. How else can I help?

We are looking for volunteers to help decorate and renovate Podstel once we have found a building/location.

If this is something that interests you, then please get in touch here and we’ll add you to our volunteer list.

9. Can you keep me updated?

Social media is the best way to stay up-to-date with Podstel developments.

We regularly update our Facebook Page with pictures and stories from our journey setting up the first Podstel.

10. Is there something we haven’t covered?

Got a question? Great, fire it our way and we will respond as quickly as possible.

Thanks for taking your time to read about the project, and we look forward to greeting you at the first Podstel!
